Arnold Boice Quinn, a product of Palos Verdes, California, studied art at the University of Southern California where he expressed and exhibited his creative passion for design. He opened his first of a series of showrooms and studios in the Melrose area of Los Angeles. During that time, experienced artists and craftsmen were in search of a cohesive artistic community, such as was to be found in New York. Quinn encourages those talented people in a variety of artistic disciplines, to settle and establish their business in what is now know as designers’ row in West Hollywood. Quinn spent a substantial amount of time in Europe nurturing his passion for Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the influence of which was so clearly apparent in his furniture and interior designs. While there, he acquired a number of pieces of furniture, sculptures, paintings, and jewelry to form a collection which he exhibited at this galleries in the Melrose/Robertson area during the early 1970’s. His reputation for both taste and knowledge of the period brought him to the attention of a number of international patrons of the arts for whom he agreed to curate their collections. His many visits to European art studios, workshops and foundries evolved into an enviable collection of exceptional pieces of period art. Quinn’s reputation in the art world brought him to the attention of both Sotheby-Park Berenet and Christies, where he lectured on Art Nouveau and Art Deco sculptures and Lalique and Gailet Glass, thus enhancing his reputation as an expert in that era. As a result of the reputation he enjoyed as well as through his fine collection of chryselephantine bronze and ivory sculptures, Quinn met Harris Shapiro, the owner of Fine Art Acquisitions. Shapiro and Quinn formed a subdivision of Fine Art Acquisition, which in turn had the licensing rights to make sculptures based on Erte’s artwork. Quinn opened a foundry to design and fabricate bronze Erte sculptures in the early 1980’s. These Erte statuettes were sold through another subsidiary called Dyansan Art Galleries along with many hundreds of other galleries that sold the Erte sculptures in the United States and around the world. The Erte sculptures produced tens of millions of dollars in sales and created a collectors after-market that still exists today; a primary and secondary market nurtured and well served by the creative talents of Arnold Quinn. Returning to his passion for chryselephantine art sculpture, Quinn established Arnold Quinn Studios. Here, the finest Art Nouveau and Art Deco sculptures are reproduced to the most exacting detail utilizing hand carved ivory; meticulously engraved bronze and colorful and perfectly matched onyx and marble, to form the bases on which each sculpture is set. Sculptures Arnold Quinn pursued the Alphonse Mucha contract from the Mucha Family in Czechoslovakia during the occupation in 1985; however, in 1998 Mr. Quinn contacted Mr. John Mucha, the grandson of Alphonse Mucha, and began negotiations in the Peoples Czech Republic for the fine art limited edition contract to produce sculptures inspired by his grandfather’s works. Mr. Quinn proceeded to produce a limited edition of fine art sculptures, which were distributed worldwide. Each sculpture is individually hand crafted at Arnold Quinn Studios, using old world methods and exquisite materials, to produce the beautiful Mucha Sculpture Collection. Authentic, exclusive and officially certified by The Mucha Trust, every sculpture is embedded on its base the official seals from The Mucha Trust and The Mucha Foundation and Arnold Quinn Studios along with John Mucha’s signature and a cipher with the limited edition numbering. Every sculpture from The Mucha Sculpture Collection is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that officially presents the important features, edition size and numbering of the sculpture, as well as to guarantee authenticity of the sculpture.
